It started with a phone call that cost too much
In 2019, Carlos Reyes called his mother in Guadalajara to wish her a happy birthday. The call lasted 45 minutes. The bill was $38. He knew there had to be a better way.
He teamed up with Priya Nair and James Okafor — both children of immigrants, both frustrated by the same problem — and spent two years building the infrastructure to make international calls affordable without sacrificing quality.
Today, Merical connects tens of thousands of families across 60+ countries. The mission hasn't changed: clear calls, honest prices, and no surprises.
